*Three (3) Faculty Positions in the Systems Science and Industrial
Engineering Department at Binghamton University (SUNY)*
The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering in the Thomas
J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton
University (The State University of New York at Binghamton) is undertaking
a significant expansion and invites applications for faculty positions for
the following, all expected to start in August 2013:
· *Tenure-track Associate or Full Professor, *in Electronics
Packaging and/or Electronics Manufacturing
· *Tenure-track Assistant Professor*, in Healthcare Systems
Engineering/Human Factors
· *Tenure-track Assistant Professor*, in Smart Grids/Operations
Research
All three positions involve teaching at all levels from undergraduate
courses to advanced graduate courses, and establishing theoretical and
applied research in the areas identified above.
For the senior position, the candidate is expected to initiate and
establish a strong externally supported research program within electronics
packaging/electronics manufacturing that will support graduate (MS and PhD)
and undergraduate students. The candidate must have (i) an earned doctorate
in either engineering or the sciences, (ii) excellent leadership skills,
and (iii) a superb record of research, including garnering funding and
scholarly publications.
For the two assistant professor positions, the candidates must have a
doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) or a closely
related field, as well as good leadership skills. The candidates are
expected to have a high potential to initiate and sustain an externally
funded multi-disciplinary research program and to take a major role in
their respective research programs. The candidates are also expected to
have an excellent record of scholarly publications. Teaching experience is
also preferred. These two positions are a part of campus-wide research
initiatives in Healthcare and Smart Energy clusters and, hence, will
require an ability to work closely with other individuals within their
respective clusters.
The Department offers a BS degree in ISE, MEng degrees in IE and SE, and MS
and PhD degrees in both Systems Science and ISE. Prospective candidates
are encouraged to visit the department web site (
http://www.ssie.binghamton.edu/) for more departmental details. Any
