The Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for
a three-year limited term position in the Department of Industrial
Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor.  We are looking for a recent
PhD graduate in Geomatics or operations research. Candidates should have an
interest in, and a strong background in Geomatics/GIS applied to maritime
traffic analysis, and at least two of the following areas: data mining,
operational risk modelling, multivariate statistics and/or emergency
response planning. A publication track record in the above field(s) is
advantageous. 
 
The successful applicant will join the MARIN team (Maritime Activity & Risk
Investigation Network) developing new methods and models in areas involving
spatial risk analysis and resource planning, such as maritime safety,
maritime spill response, coastal security, coastal zone management and
emergency response.  Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in
teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in Industrial Engineering.
 
Dalhousie University is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Halifax is
a vibrant, capital city and is the business, academic and cultural center
for Canada's east coast.  The Department of Industrial Engineering at
Dalhousie is the second oldest in Canada. The MARIN group, founded in 1997,
has conducted research on over thirty basic and applied projects involving
twenty sponsors and collaborators.  Further information on the department

This is an externally-funded position and the appointment and subsequent
renewal is dependent on the availability of funding.  Interested applicants
