A Special Issue of the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics
HEALTHCARE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ERGONOMICS
The International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics intends to publish a special issue that addresses the following theme: Lessons learned while developing healthcare information technology systems and understanding its impact on hospital ergonomics. This theme is intended for academicians and practitioners who work on analyzing and developing healthcare products and software solutions across the globe so that evidence-based and practical solutions that have improved the healthcare process placing significant emphasis on human factors can be shared. These lessons may have come about as a result of surveillance, policy, reviews, collaborations, education, research, management and/or a combination thereof.
The specific topics of interest within the scope of this special issue include (but not being limited) the following.
1. Case studies of the user-centered software development process in the healthcare environment
2. Empirical studies exploring the ergonomic impact while using modern technologies in healthcare
3. Test methodologies used for evaluating the usability of healthcare software systems
4. Healthcare information technology and its impact on the older people
5. Case studies of the impact on the workflow setting while adopting modern technologies in healthcare
6. Ergonomic considerations in surgical robots and display technologies
7. Information technology-based tools to enhance communication and decision making
The authors should follow the IJIE journal guidelines for preparing their manuscripts and submit electronically to the journal website using web-based submission tools. The International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics publishes original contributions that add to our understanding of the role of humans in today's systems and the interactions thereof with various system components. The journal typically covers the following areas: industrial and occupational ergonomics, design of systems, tools and equipment, human performance measurement and modeling, human productivity, humans in technologically complex systems, and safety. The focus of the articles includes basic theoretical advances, applications, case studies, new methodologies and procedures; and empirical studies.
Instructions for authors:
Login to the electronic manuscript submission system as an author and submit the manuscript. Please select "Special issue guest editors" in the "Request Editors" section.
