Please Apologize if you receive this more than once.

As a conference committee member of the Engineering Lean & Six Sigma Conference presented by the Institute of Industrial Engineers, I would like to invite you to give a presentation sharing your knowledge with an audience of industrial, management, manufacturing and quality engineers as well as operational and supply chain managers. The conference will be held at The Seelbach Hilton hotel on October 1-3, 2012.

Lean and Six Sigma have their roots in industrial engineering. Lean tools are traditionally developed by industrial engineers to improve productivity and eliminate wastes while Six Sigma tools are originally used by engineering to improve quality, reliability and defect level of products and services. Many problem solving tools used in Six Sigma and lean are also basic IE tools: 5S, theory of constraints, structured brainstorming, cause-and-effect, process mapping, preventive control and error proofing. We want you to share your experiences and best practices with our participants on theoretical and application aspects of modeling and simulation of lean and Six Sigma systems in any area, including manufacturing and transportation systems, engineering, ecology and environment, education including simulation based optimization, decision-making, and agent based systems.

Once you formally accept this invitation, we will ask that you post your abstract at www.xcdsystem.com/lss<http://www.xcdsystem.com/lss> along with other requested information no later than April 9, 2012. In your abstract, please be sure to include three to four bullet points as learning objectives as to what others can take back to their facility from your experience such as content, methods, tools and techniques, results noted to date, lessons learned, etc.

As in the past, this year's conference will also have a Conference Proceedings CD. You will be asked to upload your PowerPoint slides to the website no later than September 4, 2012 so that the CD can be prepared for conference attendees.

The primary presenter will receive a discounted conference registration of $375 once the paper has been accepted. You will be asked to register for the conference using the directions that will be e-mailed to you by Carol Le Blanc cleblanc at iienet.org<mailto:cleblanc at iienet.org>, the conference manager.

For additional information about the session, please contact Erick Jones ecjones at uta.edu<mailto:ecjones at uta.edu>

Thank you for your support of IIE and agreeing to give a presentation at the Engineering Lean & Six Sigma Conference.
