 Dear Colleagues:

The Ergonomics Design Competition for Student Teams will open for
registration on Labor Day (September 5, 2011 this year). I want to
encourage you to notify your students about the competition and have
them form a team or two to represent your school.
This is the only ergonomics design competition for student teams!!

From personal experience, I know that it is a great way to let
students
challenge themselves as well as compare their performance with their
peers. So far, over thirty teams have received awards and cash prizes
 for their efforts!!

The competition web site is www.ErgonomicsDesign.org and it explains
the competition, the key dates, and the rules for teams. The key dates
are:
    ●	Labor Day (September 5, 2011) - Registration opens
    ●	Training sessions throughout September
    ●	September 26 - Registration closes
    ●	October 24 - Initial problems due
    ●	November 6-8 - Final Competition Problem
    ●	December 2010 - Awards announced

Here are some recent changes that make the competition more
"student-friendly" and more relevant to your ergonomics classes:
    ●	Competition contained within the Fall Semester
    ●	Increased use of web-based resources
    ●	Teams can be made of graduate students, undergraduate students
or any combination
    ●	While team members often have a primary interest in ergonomics,
the teams can include students in safety, health, medical,
psychology,
engineering, design, therapy, physiology, and any of the other
disciplines found in the wide field of ergonomics
    ●	All teams have access to world class ergonomics software and
are
provided the training to use it
    ●	International teams are encouraged and will have the same
 resources as North American teams

Please forward this email to anyone who may have an interest in this
 competition, for example,
    ●	Colleagues at other schools
    ●	Colleagues at your school and in another department
e.g. physiology, industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, psychology or
medicine

In summary, it is an "awesome" and inexpensive opportunity for your
students....
and a great-practical teaching aid that will complement your ergonomics
instruction and classes!
