*Faculty Position in the Systems Science and Industrial Engineering
Department*

*At Binghamton University (SUNY)*



The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) in the
Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton
University (The State University of New York at Binghamton) invites
applications for a faculty member, at the *tenure-track Assistant
Professor*level, in Health Systems Engineering and Operations Research
starting in
August 2012.  The position involves teaching at all levels from
undergraduate courses to advanced graduate courses, and establishing
theoretical and applied research in the areas of Health Systems Engineering
and Operations Research.



The candidate must have a doctorate degree in Industrial and Systems
Engineering or a closely related field as well as good leadership skills,
and should have an excellent record of research funding and publications.
The candidate is expected to have a high potential to initiate and sustain
an externally funded multi-disciplinary research program and to take a major
role in the Health Systems Engineering research program. Application areas
of health systems, operations research, and enterprise systems are
preferred. Teaching experience is also preferred.



The SSIE Department has secured over 2.2 million dollars in research funding
in the 2010-2011 fiscal year (2.6 million dollars in 2009-2010).  Our
faculty members work collaboratively with over 24 sponsors from industry and
federal agencies.  The Department’s reputation is rapidly expanding.  The
Department has already gained international recognition in the electronics
manufacturing and packaging area and is now gaining rapid growth in the
health systems area working with major healthcare organizations across the
nation. In addition, Binghamton University, as part of its five-year
strategy has identified natural sciences and healthcare systems as a major
area of interest.



The Department has eleven faculty members and offers a BS degree in
Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE), MEng degree in IE, and MS and PhD
Degrees in both Systems Science and ISE.  There are about 233 undergraduate,
83 masters and 72 doctoral students in the department. Prospective
