Faculty Position in
The Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
A University Exemplary Department
The Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking
faculty candidates for a tenure-track position in the area of management
systems engineering. Appointments will be considered at the Assistant
Professor rank.
Applicants are expected to develop a strong program of research and
scholarship. The position requires a Ph.D. degree, with at least one degree
in industrial engineering, engineering management, systems engineering, or a
closely related program. Candidates in the final stages of their
dissertation are encouraged to apply.
Management Systems Engineering is concerned with the design of complex
management systems. Focus areas may include design of complex
socio-technical management systems, enterprise transformation and
integration, financial engineering and economic analysis, lean work systems,
macroergonomics/work system analysis and design, management decision and
learning support systems, managing complexity, organizational and process
improvement, performance management systems, supply chain management,
team-based work systems, technology in group decision-making, and virtual
work systems. Specific application domains may include energy, healthcare,
infrastructure, manufacturing, product development, security, service
systems, and sustainability, among others.

research publications. The CV file should contain all of the following:
education, professional and academic experience, publications and research,
