Dear Colleague,

I wish to bring to your attention an opportunity for PhD students to do a postdoc at the Naval Postgraduate School. This is a good program, administered by the National Research Council (NRC). Postdocs receive a competitive stipend, health insurance, relocation, and an allowance for professional travel for 1-2 years. The opportunity listed below is broadly worded to accommodate any interesting research in the area of the design and analysis of system architectures. We are interested in analysis techniques including simulation and queueing theory approaches. If you have any PhD students near graduation or recently graduated, please direct them to contact me about this opportunity. If there is a good match, then I can help guide them to write a competitive proposal to serve both their career goals and our research needs.

The website for the program is: http://sites.nationalacademies.org/PGA/RAP/index.htm .

Regards.

Description
We are conducting research to develop the models, methods, and tools for the design and analysis of system architectures that are of military systems including both hardware and software as well as enterprise systems that involve the purposeful arrangement of people, processes, information, and technology. We are interested in models and methods to design flexible, modular, and interoperable system architectures. It is important to analyze these architectural descriptions for structural properties of interest as well as for overall performance. To do this, we need to investigate and extend current knowledge and capabilities of executable architectures. We are interested in a broad area of analysis techniques that can be based on queuing theory, computer simulation, or mathematical modeling. To model system architectures we utilize CORE from Vitech and Rational's Software Architect.
