Dear colleagues,
The Homeland Security Track is calling interested authors and presenters to submit their papers and presentations for the 2012 Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference (ISERC). The ISERC is the new name for the Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC). The ISERC, which is part of the IIE Annual Conference and Expo, is a forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the industrial and systems engineering research community.
As track chairs of the Homeland Security Track, we would like to encourage you to contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract of your proposed presentation. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work in the Homeland Security sessions. Each session will be 75 minutes and have 3 or 4 presenters. Abstracts are welcome in the following areas:
Critical Infrastructure Modeling
Network Resiliency and Reliability
Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery
Interdiction Modeling and Analysis
Cost Benefit Analysis of Homeland Security
Decision Modeling and Analysis for Homeland Security
Counter Terrorism
Aviation Security
Security Assurance
Supply Chain Risk and Vulnerability
Modeling Terrorism
Societal Resilience
Game Theory and Homeland Security
Extreme Event Simulation
Chemical and Biological Response
Risk Modeling and Analysis
We encourage all presenters to submit a full length paper for the conference proceedings. The papers should contain results that are significant and have archival value to the industrial and systems engineering research community; however, the papers are more limited in scope and length than a full-length journal paper. Full papers have a ten-page limit and will undergo a double-blind peer review process. All accepted papers are indexed by ProQuest. Presentations without a paper are acceptable, but will not be indexed in the conference proceedings. While papers are not required in support of a presentation, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and will give considerable preference to presentations with a supported paper.
In addition, the Homeland Security track will continue to conduct a "Best Paper" competition for 2012, with all accepted papers being entered for this prize.
The important deadlines for the conference are:
Abstract submissions: November 11, 2011
Notification: December 9, 2011
Submission of full papers (optional but encouraged): January 13, 2012
Notification of paper acceptance: February 24, 2012
Final version of full paper due: March 9, 2012
Presenting author registration deadline: April 1, 2012
If your abstract or paper is accepted: (a) you or a co-author must register for the conference by April 1, 2012 (presentations/papers without an author registered for the conference will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings); (b) you or a co-author must attend and present the paper at the conference; and (c) we ask that you be ready to serve as a reviewer for fellow authors and follow all review deadlines.
There are also opportunities to organize invited sessions, panels, or tutorials. In addition to research presentations, the annual conference offers many opportunities for attendees, including the Applied Solutions Conference program, plant tours, networking, and keynote speakers.
We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
Sincerely,
ISERC 2012 Homeland Security Track co-Chairs
