Dear Colleagues,

The Health Application Society within the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) is sponsoring the Health Applications track of the 2012 INFORMS International Conference Beijing, June 24-27, 2012 in Beijing, China. The theme of the conference is OR/MS for a Sustainable World. The conference will showcase OR/MS research around the world that addresses relevant challenges and opportunities. It will also provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the international OR/MS community and provide networking opportunities among international participants.

Beijing, as the capital of China with over 5,000 years’ history, has numerous historic and scenic spots, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven. Moreover, Beijing has undergone many changes in recent years and is becoming a truly modern cosmopolis. The conference will take place at the National Convention Center in the Beijing Olympic Park.

As the track chair of the Health Applications Track, I would like to encourage you to contribute to the conference by organizing invited sessions or submitting contributed abstracts. We are seeking all original technical research, literature review, and case studies related to healthcare OR/MS. Each session will be 90 minutes and include 3 to 5 presentations (Ideally, 4 presentations). Sessions and abstracts describing OR/MS research are sought in the following areas, but not limited to:

Hospital scheduling
Hospital logistics
Capacity and Patient Flow Management

Medical decision making
Medical/health informatics

Chronic disease management
Cancer prevention and treatment
Transplant operations and policy

Global Health in Priority Areas
Infectious disease management
Healthcare challenges in developing countries
Disease surveillance
Rural health
Tele and remote health

Healthcare supply chains
Healthcare delivery systems
Healthcare operations management

Emerging topics and issues

The important deadlines for the conference are:

February 13, 2012                   Abstract submission deadline

May 5, 2012                            Authors’ deadline for final abstract changes
May 14, 2012                                       Early registration deadline

If you plan to present your work at the conference, please make sure you or a co-author must register for the conference.
