Faculty Position in Operations Research
Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research
George Mason University
The Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research at George
Mason University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the
Assistant Professor level in the broad area of stochastic modeling.
Areas of interest include Monte-Carlo and discrete event simulation,
dynamic stochastic systems, and stochastic optimization, but are not
limited to this list. We are especially interested in candidates who
combine a strong methodological research record with a keen interest in
application areas of high impact.
Candidates must show demonstrated evidence of excellent teaching ability
and outstanding research potential. Candidates must have an earned PhD
in operations research, industrial engineering, systems engineering or
related fields of study, or be within completion of such a degree, at
the time of initial appointment in Fall 2011. The successful candidate
will be expected to teach in the department's undergraduate and graduate
programs, and to establish a strong research record of publication,
research funding, and doctoral student supervision.
The faculty of the Systems Engineering and Operations Research
Department maintains an outstanding reputation in a variety of research
areas. The department is home to 17 faculty members, whose combined
research expenditures in the last fiscal year exceeded $4 million.
