Job Title:  Post Doctoral Research Fellow

Department:  Department of Industrial Engineering

Location:  The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville is a nationally- 
competitive, student-centered research institution serving Arkansas  
and the world.  The University is located in Northwest Arkansas, one  
of the fastest growing areas in the nation, with a population of over  
300,000.  It features good highway and commercial air access, plus  
nearby mountain and lake recreation. According to Sperling’s Best  
Places 2007, Northwest Arkansas was ranked number one in terms of  
“top-10 affordable job powerhouses.”

Annual Salary:  Salary will be commensurate with experience and  
education.

Description: The Department of Industrial Engineering at the  
University of Arkansas-Fayetteville is currently seeking one post  
doctoral research fellow to work with Russell D. Meller, Hefley  
Professor of Logistics and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Center  
for Engineering Logistics and Distribution (CELDi), on research  
projects in two areas:  innovative warehouse aisle designs and a new  
logistics paradigm called the “physical internet.”  Both of these  
project areas are supported by active NSF grants.  The physical  
internet project is associated with CELDi, a an NSF Industry- 
University Cooperative Research Center, headquartered at the  
University of Arkansas with ten university and over 25 industry  
members.  This post doctoral fellow will build analytical,  
optimization and simulation models pertinent to the research projects  
and analyze their output, help supervise graduate research assistants,  
and co-author reports, papers and proposals for outside funding.

Minimum Requirements:

Successful candidates will hold, or have met the final degree  
requirements for, a Ph.D. in industrial engineering or a related  
field; have conducted active model-based research in some field of  
logistics; and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active research or other background in warehousing is strongly  
preferred, although experience in other areas of logistics and supply  
chain design analysis is also relevant; excellent communication skills.
