Faculty Positions
Department of Industrial Engineering
University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates multiple openings for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates for senior positions will also be considered. Our primary area of interest is Decision and Risk Analysis; however, outstanding candidates in related areas of operations research and operations management, broadly construed, will be considered.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field by Fall 2010, have a strong methodological background, and an interest in applications. We encourage cutting-edge and interdisciplinary research. Our primary search criterion is research potential. Senior candidates must have established an outstanding research record commensurate with rank.

The Department offers a progressive and innovative undergraduate program with 150-180 students, a vibrant professional masters program, and a rigorous doctoral program with approximately 40 Ph.D. students. About half of our Ph.D. graduates assume positions in academia upon completion. For more information about the Department, please visit our webpage: http://www.ie.pitt.edu. We are also seeking faculty candidates in manufacturing and design; please see our webpage for more information.

Review of applications will begin immediately; however, applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Please email a resume, copies of up to five research papers, research and teaching statements and a list of four references to:

Faculty Search Committee

Faculty representatives will be available to meet with potential candidates at INFORMS San Diego. Those interested in meeting with members of the faculty should submit their electronic application packages by October 5, 2009.

The University of Pittsburgh is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer. We especially encourage applications from under-represented groups.
