Call for Papers - Special Issue:

Special Issue on Information Entropy Models and Applications

International Journal of Information and Decision Systems (IJIDS)

Editor-in-Chief: John Wang
www.inderscience.com/ijids/

Overview

Over the last 60 years since Shannon's paper on communication theory,
information entropy has emerged as a scientific basis to study complex
systems beyond communication including manufacturing systems, supply chains
and service systems. This special issue is intended to bring together
state-of-the-art in models and applications of information entropy.

The published papers are expected to present high quality research results
in diverse, complex, domains. This special issue will serve as a one-stop
source for education, information, and reference to professors, researchers
and graduate students interested in information entropy.

Topics

Areas of interest for this special issue include, but are not limited to,
the modeling and application of information entropy in the following area:

. Design, operations and management

. Characterizing complexity measures

. Network complexity

. Supply chain vulnerability

. Integration of information technology

. Manufacturing, supply chain and service sector

. Applications to real-world problems

. Case studies

Schedule

Manuscript due: April 31st, 2009
Notification of acceptance: July 1st, 2009
Submission of final revised paper: August 1st, 2009
Publication date: 4th-Quarter, 2009 (Tentative)

Submission & Review Instruction

Submitted articles must not have been previously published or currently
submitted for journal publication elsewhere. Papers, which have appeared
previously in proceedings of conferences, could be submitted to this special
issue if they are substantially revised or improved from their earlier
versions with at least 30% new materials or results to comply with the
copyright regulations. Prospective authors may send one copy of the full
manuscript in the form of an MS Word of PDF file attached to an e-mail
(details in <http://www.inderscience.com/mapper.php?id=31> Author
Guidelines) to the guest editors with a copy to:

Editorial Office
E-mail: <mailto:editorial at inderscience.com> editorial at inderscience.com

Each submitted paper will be reviewed by at least three Editorial reviewers.

Criteria and Evaluation for acceptance of paper:

. Significance to the journal's audience

. Relevance to this special issue

. Quality of the paper including originality, technical depth,
significance of results, adequacy of priori works referenced, overall
organization, clarity and readability, satisfactory English writing,
sufficient support for assertions and conclusion, appropriate title,
abstract adequately summarizes the paper, introduction provides proper
orientation, clear tables and figures.

. Overall recommendation on the paper

. Optional confidential comments to the Editorial Committee
