Dear colleague:
 
I am pleased to announce that the JobshopLean2008 Conference will be held
this year at The Ohio State University on September 16-19.  The Home page
for the conference is

conference answers the fundamental question, "What lies beyond the Toyota
Production System (TPS)?"  While TPS is unquestionably a well-established
and proven production system, many of its concepts, methods and
implementation tools are poorly suited to high-mix low-volume environments
(aka jobshops), such as shipyards, hospitals, offices, and, of course, the
thousands of small and medium enterprises (SME) that comprise the industrial
base of any country.  At this year's conference, attendees will:  

*	Learn about a flexible and agile production system developed by
Xerox Corporation - LDP Lean Document ProductionR - that integrates
optimization tools, simulation, Information Technology and Lean Six Sigma
*	Learn how to simplify any jobshop using a unique set of Lean
Advisory Tools (LAT) based on Group Technology
*	Learn the nuts-and-bolts of a low-cost JobshopLean Simulation that
you can easily customize to train employees and managers in your
organization
*	Learn about a suite of software tools for design, evaluation and
scheduling of Lean jobshops
*	Learn about technology enablers to facilitate the implementation of
Lean in jobshops
*	Meet like-minded peers from academia and industry who have
experiences to share and questions that they would like to get answered
*	Learn from business owners and practitioners about successful
strategies, pitfalls and surprises they encountered on their "Lean journey"
*	Participate in a 2-hour open discussion forum with peers
