THE Systems Engineering and Engineering Management program (SEEM) at THE WILLIAM STATES LEE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHARLOTTE is currently seeking candidates for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the area of systems engineering, systems modeling and optimization who can teach manufacturing related courses (preferably) starting January 2009.  Preference will be given to candidates with a stochastic and simulation modeling background. The ideal candidate will (a) have a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management or a related field; (b) seek external funding actively and develop a strong research program; (c) demonstrate potential in publishing in top journals; (d) have a strong commitment to teaching excellence; (e) actively contribute to the further development and growth of the SEEM Program; and (f) have the ability and interest to work closely with industry. 

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity of participating in multidisciplinary projects with the Center for Lean Logistics & Engineered Systems at UNC Charlotte. UNC Charlotte is a doctoral, research intensive university located in one of the nation's fastest growing metropolitan areas on an expanding modern campus.  It is part of one of the oldest public university systems in the United States. UNC Charlotte offers over 22,300 culturally diverse students a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 20th largest city in the U.S. Charlotte has been ranked as the 3rd best business location in the U.S. Charlotte region has been historically very strong in manufacturing. The city also has a very strong finance industry presence (being noted as the second largest banking center in the U.S.) and a major logistics/distribution industry (6th largest wholesaling center and 11th largest trucking center in the U.S.).
