Call for Nominations
2009 Arthur M. Wellington Award
Nominations are requested for the 2009 Wellington Award, which is given
annually by the Institute of Industrial Engineers in recognition of
significant contributions to the field of Engineering Economy. The award
is named after Arthur M. Wellington, a 19th century engineer who wrote one
of the first books on the application of economic principles to an
engineering problem, The Economic Theory of Railroad Location (1887).
Nominations are accepted for individuals and institutions. A selection
panel will evaluate qualifications of the candidates for the award. The
criteria used in the evaluation include original contributions and service
to the profession. The award will be presented at the Annual IIE
Conference in May of 2009. To nominate a candidate, send a letter of
nomination, with supporting information, to Prof. Thomas O. Boucher,
Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Rutgers University, 96
Frelinghuysen Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854, or by e-mail
(tboucher at rci.rutgers.edu). The deadline for nominations is January 31,
2009.
