The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi
State University is seeking applicants for a non tenure-track
instructor. Candidates in all areas of industrial and systems
engineering are encouraged to apply. The expected start date is January
1, 2008 or August 16, 2008.
A master's degree in industrial engineering, or a closely related field,
is required. Professional registration, or ability to qualify for
registration, and a B.S. degree in industrial engineering are highly
desired. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Applicants will have a strong interest in teaching and advising
undergraduate students. Responsibilities will include teaching courses
and coordinating the delivery of the undergraduate program, which
includes undergraduate student advising, auditing student progress
toward graduation, conducting curriculum assessments, and student
recruiting.
Mississippi State University is a comprehensive, land-grant university
with a total enrollment of about 17,000. The Bagley College of
Engineering enrolls about 2,000 undergraduates and 550 graduate
students. The College ranks nationally in the top 14% in research
expenditures and is one of nine schools and colleges in the University.
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is one of the eight
academic departments in the Bagley College of Engineering. The
Department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program in industrial
engineering, as well as graduate studies leading to M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees. The Department has an undergraduate enrollment of 125 and a
graduate enrollment of 24 master's students and 35 doctoral students.
The Department's current research project portfolio exceeds $3.5 million
in active grants and contracts.
