Announcements for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the Industrial Distribution program of College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station.
Nature of the Industrial Distribution Program
The Industrial Distribution Program is in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, one of eleven departments of the Dwight Look College of Engineering. This nationally recognized program focuses on the distribution of hard goods from the point of manufacture to the point of use. Included is a BS degree program in Industrial Distribution, the online Masters of Industrial Distribution and the Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education.
Position 1
Position Description
This position involves teaching concepts of purchasing & procurement, quality systems, demand management, supplier management and issues in a distribution context at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching and educational development activities, the position involves the conduct of applied research, scholarship and direct industry participation through professional development programs.
Qualifications
Education: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in systems or industrial engineering, operations management, logistics, supply chain management, business administration or other fields directly related to industrial distribution (at least one degree in engineering is required), possess excellent communication skills, have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate/graduate level, and be self-motivated to develop partnerships with industry to establish externally funded research programs.
Experience:
Candidates must possess direct knowledge of industrial distribution, to include industrial purchasing, quality systems, business to business marketing, physical distribution and finance. The successful candidate should have experience with diversity including gender, ethnicity and cultural issues.
