LEHIGH UNIVERSITY
Department Chair
Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Lehigh
University invites applications and nominations for the position of
Department Chair. The chair position has the potential of carrying an
endowed professorship as well. The department has an excellent
undergraduate program as well as a vibrant graduate and research
program, and will continue to build on its recent growth and success.
We seek a dynamic leader with the vision to further strengthen the
department and to expand its multidisciplinary leadership within the
university.

We welcome applications from, and nominations for, individuals with
strong backgrounds in any ISE-relevant discipline, including but not
limited to industrial engineering, operations research, systems
engineering, and applied mathematics. The candidate should possess a
Ph.D., and have an exemplary record of achievement in research,
teaching, and service at a level sufficient for appointment as a tenured
Professor. Prior academic management experience and demonstrated
leadership abilities are preferred. The candidate must demonstrate a
strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, conduct an
active research program, and be willing to explore interdisciplinary
research opportunities within the college and university.

Established in 1926, the ISE Department currently has 14 full-time
faculty members, 140 undergraduates and 120 graduate students, about 45
of whom are Ph.D. students. The department offers comprehensive research
and education programs at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels. The ISE
faculty maintains an outstanding international reputation in a variety
of research areas. Active research topics include mathematical
programming, discrete optimization, high performance computing,
financial optimization, revenue management, and a variety of topics in
logistics and supply chain analysis. The Department maintains excellent
computational and laboratory facilities, including a 64-processor
Beowulf cluster for parallel computing. Annual research expenditures
exceed $2.7 million. The Department has extensive interdisciplinary ties
with the business school through the Center for Value Chain Research,
the Finance and Mathematics departments through the Analytical Finance
program, and Computer Science through our advance computing resources.

Lehigh University is consistently ranked among the top 35 national
research universities, and the ISE Department’s graduate program is
consistently ranked in the top 15 nationally. Lehigh University is
