Call for Nominations



2009 Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC) Program Chair



The Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) 
IERC committee is seeking nominations for a Program Chair for the 2009 
Industrial Engineering Research Conference, which will be held in Miami in 
May 2009.  Nominations are due July 1, 2007.



The responsibilities of the IERC Program Chair are to:



·         Maintain and Improve the quality of the IERC.



·         Plan the numbers and types of technical sessions, ensuring 
coverage of areas in IE and consistent with the conference space available.



·         Select and lead the Organizing Committee; oversee Organizing 
Committee activities.



·         Develop possible special programs (e.g., connected to a specific 
conference theme) or innovations in consultation with the CIEADH IERC 
Committee.



·         Determine plenaries, keynotes, tutorials, and invited sessions in 
conjunction with the Organizing Committee.



·         Develop a Call for Papers and Conference Announcement in 
conjunction with IIE staff.



·         Manage submission of contributed abstracts and their timely review.



·         Work with Organizing Committee to select reviewers for submitted 
conference papers and manage a timely review process.



·         Provide a schedule for technical sessions to IIE Staff.



·         Report to CIEADH IERC Committee in conjunction with scheduled 
CIEADH meetings during the IIE Annual Conference (May) and the annual 
INFORMS conference (October or November).  Present a conference summary 
during CIEADH meetings.



·         Make a 3 year commitment to serve on the IERC Oversight Committee.



The majority of program planning occurs in the early summer, 9-12 months 
before the conference.  Abstract review occurs in December and paper review 
occurs in January and February.


Nominations should include:



(1)     A letter from the nominating department chair highlighting the 
qualifications of the nominee, commenting specifically on the nominee’s 
organizational skills and experience.

  (2)    The nominee’s curriculum vitae



Nominations should be sent electronically to Saif Benjaafar (saif at umn.edu), 
Chair of the CIEADH IERC committee.  The Program Chair will be selected by 
the CIEADH IERC Committee.
