Sadly I mentioned Wheel Session 99, a small live Jazz event, on the BGs
Zoom after it happened.
Over the course of the pandemic I've gotten out of the habit of getting
together with people IRL (In Real Life for you oldsters ;-)
Here is advance notice of the next session.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend as I expect be traveling with my
family.
Hopefully I'll see some of you at Session 101!

The next Wheel Session celebrates our Centennial Concert, Whew, Whew! ... I
can't say thank you enough to each of you, and to each of the musicians who
have graced our stage; you've all played a valuable part in reaching this
milestone.

Session 100 will feature a collective of the Upstate's finest jazz
musicians, each of whom has been "featured" at a previous Wheel Session.
All of these gentlemen have made significant contributions to the jazz
scene in South Carolina, and each is an excellent ambassador for the
creative arts.

T*hey are: alto sax- Tom Wright, ten sax - Peter Dimery, trp - Mark Rapp,
trb - Brad Jepson, piano - Phillip Howe, bass - Shannon Hoover, and myself
on drums.*

CITY ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL JAZZ FEST

City Council member Ken Gibson quoted Wynton Marsalis as he announced the
2023 Greenville Jazz Fest, the city's inaugural jazz celebration:

“Jazz music is the power of now. There is no script. It’s conversation. The
emotion is given to you by musicians as they make split-second decisions to
fulfill what they feel the moment requires.”

At Monday's formal meeting, Gibson welcomed the celebration of community,
culture and jazz to the city. The Greenville Jazz Fest will arrive on Main
Street on June 3, from 4-10 p.m. The festival will take place on Main
Street, from Board Street to Falls Park Drive. Two stages will be located
along Main Street, as well food trucks and beverage locations.
