Good afternoon all,

In preparation of the October 6th event, we are asking for donations to be given to pay for the food that we plan to have for everyone

I, myself, will be in charge of the funds and will make a weekly account of how much everyone has donated at that point

Our goal is to raise at least $600 or more to cover all food expenses (chances are we will get Smitty to cater the food)

Subject: [Bgs-list] The In-Person Barber Shop
Fellow BG’s,

BG Harrison Pinckney has worked hard to establish relationships with Black male students who have asked for us to establish a BG/Barber shop environment similar to what we have historically had with one another. The result of their request is the first of two in person BG’s sponsored Barber shop events. Young brothers can come and get a free haircut, a free meal and engage in conversations with BG’s who are at various stages in our own lives (that means some of us are older and some of us are younger). This event will take place on October 6th at Littlejohn Community Center in Clemson. The details are spelled out on the attached flyer. Feel free to share the flyer with Black male students (graduate and undergraduate that you may know who might want a fresh haircut as they get ready to go home for Fall Break, a good meal, or just want be in the presence of other Black men engaged in conversation like we do at the barber shop. We have solicited 6 Barbers to provide free haircuts. Individuals should use the link in the flyer to sign up for a time to get their hair cut. But they are welcome to come and hang with the BG’s between 11am and 3:30 pm (provided they do not have class or other obligations during that time). How can you help? I am glad that you asked. We are accepting donations to help cover the cost of feeding all who show up. Feel free to reply to me directly (DO NOT REPLY ALL) with any questions about how you can contribute. Since the BG’s is not limited to brothers in who live and work at Clemson (our virtual reach includes BG’s in OH, MN, TX, and beyond) we are accepting donations from any and all BG’s. We will repeat this event in the Spring as well. Questions can be directed to myself, Harrison Pinckney, and Deveraux Williams. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
