The killer “police gangs” of Los Angeles

Dear friends,

Hello! This is once again David Oks from the Gravel Institute. I hope you
have been enjoying the peculiar beauty of late summer, the mercurial
wonders of August. I’m reminded of Derek Walcott’s great poem “Dark August”
(it’s been quite dark here in New York): “So much rain, so much life like
the swollen sky/Of this late August. My sister, the sun,/Broods in her
yellow room and won’t come out.”

I’m emailing to share with you something we’re really proud of – it’s a
documentary we produced, an investigative one. It’s about the police gangs
of Los Angeles: the dozens of criminal gangs within the Los Angeles County
Sheriff’s Department, the fourth biggest police department in the United
States.

It’s an incredible and disturbing story. I really recommend watching it –
you will be amazed.
