Thank you Brother Carl for the support!!
I'm pretty good at ignoring the ignorance, but somehow it does still drain
my energy somewhat. Also - Clemson has an internal system for student
evaluations that is anonymous. It includes a quantitative evaluation and
also a place for students to provide comments. This system is what is used
by the university. Rate My Professor is a website that anyone can register
for and offer comments. As a result, the commentary offered on that site is
primarily by people that have not taken my class. One comment talks about
my teaching of interpersonal communicaton - which is class that I have
never taught. At one point 75% of the comments were added on one day during
the time that I happened to be in the headlines for going to Ferguson
Missouri. My evaluations in the REAL student evaluation system reflect a
much wider and much more positive generally positive view of my classes.
Those include comments like:
"
“I really liked the critical analysis essay. It forced me to really think
outside the box.
Also, his feedback made me realize the importance of word choice. I thought
it was
awesome that he gave us feedback. I wish he did more assignments like this.
I also liked his reading responses. It forced me to read materials, but it
also made
me think. Overall, I think with such a complex class, the writing helped me
to really analyze my thoughts and better understand the material.”
and
“I think I learned more in this class than any other at all my time in
college”
I've chosen not to correct misconceptions about this publicly at this time
because I don't think that it is necessary. But perhaps it is.

Thanks again Carl!
