the public’s attention is drawn away from the important issues and
into more trivial, but highly engaging narratives. The Weiner scandal
instead of what New York really needs from its next mayor, what
Snowden can do while in Russia versus serious questions about
government surveillance, and sagging pants versus race in society. The
MHP panel is re-directing the misdirection.
