Dear Colleagues,
I thought you might be able to help spread the word about Friday's upcoming public lecture, "Is the World Flat?" See the attached flier for details. We trust the talk will appeal to a broad cross-section of Clemson students, faculty, and staff, especially those interested in international issues and global trends. Please feel free to share and widely distribute among colleagues and students.
As you can see, the speaker is demographer and development expert Dr. Parfait Eloundou-Enyegue of Cornell University. We think the lecture will provide students and colleagues with an opportunity to interact and to engage in a provocative exchange with a specialist in the sociology of education, social change, and the demography of inequality. Dr. Eloundou-Enyegue's lectures are designed to help students "evaluate and effectively interpret factual claims and theories..." We think the lecture will be important to students as a major focus of Dr. Eloundou-Enyegue's current work is to understand the effects of contemporary demographic transitions and, more importantly (especially for students), the implications of globalization and global inequality for jobs and career prospects.
The lecture is part of the Department of Sociology & Anthropology's Speaker Series and is co-sponsored by Pan African Studies and Policy Studies.
If you have any questions, or need further information, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Ken
