[Bgs-list] You're Invited: Noted Historian to Speak at Upcoming MLK Memorial Celebration and Scholarship Program

Dear Colleagues,

Attached is information regarding the upcoming MLK Memorial Celebration to benefit the C.T. Battle Scholarship Fund.  The Celebration is sponsored by the Anderson alumni chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  The program will feature Dr. Robert L. Harris, Cornell University professor of History and Africana Studies (my wife Lisa's dad);  presentation of the 2011 C. T. Battle Scholars; recognition of the Reverend Rufus Mitchell, 2012 MLK Drum Major Award recipient; and music by the Clemson University a cappella group TakeNote.   

The program is designed to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to benefit the C. T. Battle Scholarship Fund.  Please feel free to share with your respective, listservs, area churches and community organizations as we are seeking local support, and would like to have a good turnout of adults and students, from across the Upstate, including Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson counties.
